Forensic Vibration & Structural Response Investigation Services

Vibration from construction activity, mining and traffic can interact with structures in complex ways. Our engineering investigations distinguish between vibration-induced damage and other mechanisms such as subsidence, settlement, moisture movements or thermal effects.

We’ll complete a Structural Engineer’s inspection of the building’s condition, with measurements, crack mapping, level surveys and photographic documentation. We’ll typically then assess: vibration monitoring data; the source’s frequency and amplitude; the separation distance between structure and source; the structure’s likely dynamic response; and, the criteria in various international standards for vibration damage. We’ve done this following concerns about property damage from:

  • Underground blasting
  • Surface blasting
  • Tunnel boring
  • Pile Driving
  • Road construction
