Ian Kavanagh
Ian is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Association of Consulting Forensic Engineers, with 25 years of professional engineering experience. His BSc(Hons) degree in Structural Engineering, Diploma in Project Management, and Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Building Repair & Conservation form the basis of his expertise on why failures occur.
Ian began his career as a Structural Engineer with a large multi-disciplinary consultancy, before specialising in property damage and incident investigations more than 15 years ago. This developed his ability to analyse complex cases and deliver conclusions that withstand the highest levels of technical and legal scrutiny as an expert witness.
In addition to his core background in structures, Ian’s specialist training and experience as a Marine Accident Investigator means that clients get the benefit of a unique perspective on failure mechanisms. This has helped the company become one of Ireland’s leading providers of technical investigation services.
Simon Griffin
Simon is a Chartered Engineer with 21 years of professional engineering experience, including more than 10 years of forensic investigations. He has a BEng(Hons) degree in Structural Engineering and a Professional Diploma in Forensic Structural Engineering, which he uses to analyse complex cases and deliver clear, evidence-based conclusions for clients.
Simon spent 10 years in a civil and structural engineering consultancy, delivering in roles as Lead Engineer, Resident Engineer, Project Manager and Safety Supervisor. He was responsible for the design of many large-scale building projects including major developments in Saudi Arabia.
In his forensic engineering work, Simon has prepared over 1,000 reports on the causes of structural damage and material failures. Clients trust his experience of building collapses, material distress, water ingress, subsidence, fire damage, and construction defects. He has also been appointed on multiple occasions as an expert in construction litigation cases, helping legal teams understand complex technical issues.
Craig Morgan
Craig is a Chartered Engineer with 15 years of professional engineering experience across structural design and forensic investigations. He has a Master’s Degree in Architectural Engineering, which combines structural engineering with the design of building systems, and a Professional Diploma in Forensic Structural Engineering that supplements his practical experience of how failures occur.
Craig initially worked as a Structural Engineer in the UK and Ireland, where he was responsible for the design and project management of many large-scale refurbishment, underpinning and basement projects.
His broad experience of how structures are put together is now used to interpret damage mechanisms and material behaviours. Craig has investigated hundreds of structures affected by subsidence, collapse, fire, water and deleterious materials such as pyrite and mica. Our clients trust his ability to find and evaluate evidence, and his judgement on causes especially those involving complex building performance claims.
